Genie and Victor are known as “wild children”.  They were unable to develop language due to lack of stimulus.  Genie was locked away in her room for the first thirteen years of her life.  Victor was found at the age of twelve roaming through the woods.  Theorists suggest that these two children were unable to develop language because they were past the critical learning period of language.  The critical period of language acquisition is from infancy to puberty.
